Roys Peak Track climbs steeply from the Mount Aspiring Road car park to high viewpoints over Lake Wānaka and the surrounding mountains. It is a long, exposed day walk with little shelter and can be hot, icy, windy or crowded depending on the season. Check the annual lambing closure and track conditions, carry ample water and layers, and start early enough to return in daylight.
