North Mavora Lake is the more remote of the two Mavora lakes, with lakeside camping, mountain views and links to backcountry tracks and four-wheel-drive country. Reach it through the Mavora Lakes camping area; the gated vehicle route farther north requires advance registration for DOC’s current combination code. Expect gravel travel, limited communications and no nearby fuel or food.
