The Hump Ridge and South Coast tracks are reached from the Rarakau car park west of Tuatapere via Papatotara Road and the signed Bluecliffs route. This is the gateway to demanding coastal and forest country rather than a casual town walk. Confirm bookings, track alerts, transport and equipment requirements before departure, and leave enough time for the unsealed approach road.
