Fiordland
Southland
Fiordland is New Zealand’s most mystical wilderness region - defined by mountains, rainforest, deep lakes, fiords, waterfalls and remote coastlines. Te Anau and Manapouri provide the main visitor bases, while Milford Sound / Piopiotahi and Doubtful Sound represent some of the most dramatic landscapes in the country. Almost all of Fiordland is unpopulated conservation land, making it feel vast, wild and deeply removed from ordinary urban life.
